hey guys!
went to watch the forbidden city musical at the esplanade last nite. it was WOW! kit chan's voice is powerful and she can reach those veh veh high notes w/o running voice lah( think in hokkien, sorry lah ht!) the whole storyline was bout this woman who was invited by the Cixi empress to paint her portrait. then she requested the empress to relate her life to her so that she can draw the portrait with feelings. then the empress started telling the whole story bout her life, like how she was picked by the emperor and have fun everyday and nite :) then after three mths she got pregnant. so the emperor ask her go other palace to stay and he went to choose another concubine. it turns out that she love the emperor but when she gave birth to the son, they took the son away to let him grow up in the palace and left her alone. then all bout the wars and blah den the emperor managed to name her son the emperor and she the regent before he died. but the son was led astray by the son of the late emperor's bro, and went brothels. wah that scene was erm. not veh suitable for kids. got a few parts quite erm u noe what i mean lah. haha den her son died of syphilis in the end. den blah she name her nephew as the new emperor but in the end she made a mistake in agreeing with him to stage a revolution and sparked off a war and many died. in the end the emperor ran away and she took reign of the country lor. then all this while when she was telling the story to this painter, the painter told her lover too. but turn out the lover, a journalist, betrayed her and distort the whole story till it becomes cixi caused the son to get smallpox and died. but she still managed to finish the whole painting lah. i think this musical is based on real facts leh. that's wat the programme booklet says. if so then the empress not so evil as what the history says. not too bad, as nice as oliver twist and mama mia. haha the songs are veh nice too.
okae so now return back to mugging again. haiz so worried bout promos. gp is jus 19 more days, and the rest also nearing. everyday chem and bio and a lil of maths with no econs! my econs first day and nvr study a bit. haiz boat reach bridge head naturally straight lah. now i have to finish respiration. that's my aim before 2 pm. jiayou!
